Privacy Policy
Shasks · Effective July 20, 2026
The short version
Shasks is a personal task manager. It collects the information it needs to sign you in and keep your tasks in sync across your devices, and nothing more. It does not sell your data, show you ads, or track you across other apps or websites. There are no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
Who we are
This policy covers the Shasks iOS app and its backend service. If you have questions, contact us at shasks-support@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
Everything below is collected to make the app work for you. None of it is used for advertising or tracking.
- Account identity. When you create an account we store your email address, your name if you provide one, and a user identifier. This is how we sign you in and associate your tasks with you. Authentication is handled by Clerk (see “Who processes your data”).
- Your task content. The tasks, notes, dates, tags, checklists, sub-tasks, projects, and areas you create. This is the core of the product — it is stored so it syncs across your devices.
- Photos and files you attach. If you attach a photo or file to a task, we store it so it appears on your other devices. We only access your camera or photo library when you choose to add an attachment.
- Voice memos. If you record a voice memo and attach it to a task, the audio file is stored to your account so it plays back on your other devices.
- Location — only for reminders you set. If you add a location-based reminder (“remind me when I arrive at…”), we store the place you chose so the reminder can sync across your devices. The actual monitoring of where you are happens on your device, through iOS; we do not receive a continuous stream of your location.
What happens on your device and never leaves it
Some features process data locally and do not send it to us:
- Voice capture (dictating a task). When you speak a task, the audio is transcribed on your device. The recording is not saved and is never uploaded — only the resulting text becomes a task. (This is different from a voice memo, which you deliberately save and attach; that file is uploaded, as noted above.)
- Your locally cached tasks. The app keeps a copy of your tasks on your device so it works offline. That copy is protected by iOS device encryption and is removed when you sign out or delete your account.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process your data on our behalf and only for the purposes described here:
- Clerk — authentication (your sign-in and account identity).
- Neon — the database where your tasks are stored.
- Vercel — hosting for the service and storage for your attachments and voice memos.
- Google Calendar — only if you choose to connect it. When you do, we access your calendar events to show them alongside your tasks, and we store the access tokens (encrypted) needed to do so. You can disconnect at any time. If you never connect a calendar, none of this applies.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting, so we can find and fix problems. If the app crashes or hits an error, Sentry receives diagnostic information (the type of device, the OS version, and where in the code the problem occurred). It is not tied to your identity, and it does not include your task content.
Crash and diagnostic data
To keep the app working, we collect crash reports and basic diagnostic information (through Sentry, above) when something goes wrong. This is used only to fix bugs and improve reliability — never for advertising or tracking — and it does not include the contents of your tasks.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete something in the app, it is removed from the service. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your data — see below.
Your choices and rights
- See and change your data. Your data is your task list — you can view and edit all of it directly in the app at any time.
- Delete your account. You can delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). This permanently removes your tasks, attachments, voice memos, and account from our service. This cannot be undone.
- Request a copy. If you would like an export of your data, contact us at shasks-support@gmail.com.
Security
Data sent between the app and our service is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Your on-device copy is protected by iOS device encryption. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect in the first place.
Children
Shasks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated in the app where appropriate.
